General information only — not medical advice, a diagnosis or a prescription. PACT Safe is not a medical device. A clinician decides on tests and medicine. In a medical emergency in Thailand call 1669, or your local emergency number.
The condom broke or slipped off — what do I do?
- Worried about pregnancy? Emergency contraception pills are sold at pharmacies and work best the sooner you take them.
- Test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea from about 2 weeks and HIV from about 4 weeks (see the testing-window table below).
- Clinic staff see this every day — you can say it straight.
Within 72 hours? Open emergency PEP helpIs it too late for PEP? It's been a day or two.
- After 72 hours PEP is usually not given, but you should still get tested and plan a retest.
- Most hospital emergency departments are open 24 hours — go there if clinics are closed.

Take the 1-minute anonymous checkCan I get an HIV test without giving my name?
- Using free Thai public-hospital rights usually needs your ID card, but your results are confidential.
- HIV self-test kits are sold at some pharmacies. A positive self-test must be confirmed at a clinic.
- PACT Safe needs no sign-up or name — use it to find a clinic and keep the visit card on your phone.

See free clinicsWhat is PEP, and how soon do I need it?
- It is taken every day for 28 days and needs a prescription from a clinician.
- Go to a hospital emergency department or a clinic that offers PEP now. Do not wait for a test result first.
- PEP is for emergencies. If you may be exposed often, ask a clinic about PrEP.
Open 72-hour helpWhat is PrEP?
- You need a negative HIV test before starting, then regular check-ups and tests at the clinic.
- PrEP does not prevent other STIs or pregnancy. Condoms help with those.
- In Thailand, eligible Thai nationals can get PrEP free under national health coverage at participating hospitals and clinics. Call the NHSO hotline 1330 to check your rights.
Find a PrEP clinicWhere can I get a free HIV test in Thailand or Bangkok?
- In Bangkok, options include the Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic, which tests under a code number instead of your name.
- Community clinics such as SWING foundation branches and other Love2Test partners also offer testing. Check hours and who is eligible before you go.
- Thai nationals can call the NHSO hotline 1330 to ask about free testing rights.
Show free clinicsHow long after exposure should I test for HIV and other STIs?
| Infection | Test from about |
|---|
| HIV | 4 weeks (28 days). Lab blood tests usually pick it up earlier than many rapid tests. |
|---|
| Chlamydia and gonorrhoea | 2 weeks |
|---|
| Syphilis | 4 weeks. A repeat test may be advised later. |

If you are still within 72 hours of a possible HIV exposure, do not wait to test — ask about PEP now. If you took PEP, follow your clinic's retest schedule.
Can a person with HIV on treatment pass it on through sex?
- Treatment needs to be taken as prescribed, with the viral load checked by a clinic.
- An undetectable viral load does not protect against other STIs.
How common is HIV?
- HIV can be prevented with condoms, PrEP, PEP after an exposure, and treatment that keeps the virus undetectable.
Is PACT Safe anonymous? Do I need an account?
- Optional features — device sync, AI replies and hashed product counts — can involve processing. The privacy policy explains each one and how to turn it off.
- Clinic-staff tools use a work email; that is separate from the consumer app.
